Need some life advice...help please....

I am currently a police dispatcher, making about 14 dollars an hour. It is extremely stressful, and crazy. The hours are hectic and we have over 30 hrs of mandatory overtime a month. I am 28 years old and am in school part time as well. My question is should i quit my job soon and go back to waiting tables so i can go to school full time and get my degree? (i am going to be a teacher) i know dispatch isnt a career for me.

Im thinking about going to cheesecake factory...u think the money will be good there?

Thanks...

ps. i am posting this in lgbt because the answers are usually more mature and honest :)Need some life advice...help please....
I'd say do what makes you happiest. If that means quitting dispatch and waiting tables so that one day you can fulfill what you really want to do, then go for it. I believe that the cheesecake factory does pay pretty well. The menu items are a bit costly, therefore the tips are larger. I don't know that it would be as much as what you're making now. Just be sure you know what your budget is and stick to it, and you shouldn't have a problem.

There are too many people in this world who hate their job even though it pays well. I personally would rather love my job, regardless of the pay.Need some life advice...help please....
This is a really bad time to go back to waiting tables. With the economic downturn, tips have taken a nose-dive.

:You might want to look into a student loan. Or, see if you can work part time as a dispatcher for a different county or city. You now have experiance, and they might need someone on nights or weekends.

However you manage it, I'm glad you are in school, and I hope you enjoy teaching. I have nothing but the utmost respect for teachers...it's not a job that I have the patience to do, but it's one of the most important jobs in our society.
i think you should keep doing what you are doing until you know you can get a job somewhere else, and thhe moment you know you can get hired someplace else...quit being a police dispatcher

if you talkin about the cheesecake factory resturaunt their pay is okay

i applied for a job there and the pay is i think $11 somthing with tips
Okay if you do not like you job, quit. A waiter definitely makes more money than that, especially if it's at a better location. First check out which place you want to work at. If the place is really busy, you for sure would make more money, but if it's kind of slow, take the time to decide that. Personally, I would go waiting tables, you get the tips and I find it enjoyable. Hope this helps!
You would make a lot less money as a waitress. But then again you will probably make less as a teacher as well, at least for the first few yeas. If you can afford to quit and concentrate on your schooling then there is no reason for you not to do it. You'll make about 3 dollars per hour plus tips, the economy is tight right now so less people are eating out at casual dinning restaurants. But a waitress that has good people skills and knows how to hustle can probably still do alright. Good luck!

haha i thought you'd ask if you were gay...

do you make a difference in peoples/someones lives/life? are you happy? can you see yourself doing this in the future?

well i thik you've answered your own question; ';i know dispatch isnt a career for me.';, ';ma

king about 14 dollars an hour. It is extremely stressful, and crazy. The hours are hectic and we have over 30 hrs of mandatory overtime a month.';

leave and do what you feel you should
t's seems to me you want to change jobs but are just a little apprehensive about the change. If it's likely something better than cheese work may come along soon then wait otherwise i'd change. You can't underestimate the damage stress does to your body and your abillity to concentrate at school. But don't take my opinion as more meaningful than your own.
If you can afford to quot, %26amp; keep your bills up, %26amp; go to school full time, Then do it!

Why are you putting your self under stress for nothing. Money isnt the key in life.

Go to school. It wwill be much better in the end.

Just make sure financially you can be a waiter, %26amp; go to school as well.
school should ALWAYS be your number one priority! please don't quit going to school for a dispatching job that anyone can get. Go to school, wait tables and get through that rough patch. when your done school you'll be making good money and doing what you love. Please finish school, you'll never regret that. you can regret dispatching easily...
You will not make near as much per hour in retail as you do a dispatcher. BUT if you need to concentrate on getting your teaching degree, then I think the less stress would be better for you in the long run. School is demanding enough, adding a demanding job is not good.

If you don't have the energy to study or if you will be able to support yourself with a lower income then go for it. Your education is important, after all.
